Marie Nash Harden

   Marie Nash Harden, 84, of 723 Mt. Hermon Church Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in her son's home in Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Harden was born in Camden County on August 23, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Vernon and Mary Hewitt Nash. A homemaker, she was a member of Faith Assembly of God in Hertford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Harden, Sr., a daughter, Debbie Harden, a son-in-law, Linwood Collier, and by a brother, Louis Nash.

   Surviving are her seven daughters, Ann Canham and husband Paul of Norfolk, VA, Martha Thompson and husband Jim and June Mitchell, all of Elizabeth City, Kathleen Taylor and husband Robert of Tyner, Phyllis Warden of Hertford, Elaine Collier of Elizabeth City, Thelma Warner and husband Mike of Hertford; three sons, Thomas E. Harden, Jr. and wife Cindy of Elizabeth City, Charles E. Harden and wife Angie of Hertford, and Philip A. Harden, Sr. and wife Angie of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Melissa Gray of Camden and Elizabeth Carroll of Lakeland, FL; a brother, Samuel Nash of Camden; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Fountain of Life Ministries by the Rev. Stuart Meads. A private burial will follow in New Hollywood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and all other times at Thomas and Cindy's home, 1524 Nixonton Road, Elizabeth City.
