Buck Tatem

   Walter David “Buck” Tatem, 70, of 1360 Carters Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in Sentara Healthcare Center, Portsmouth, VA.

    Buck was born in Norfolk, VA on May 13, 1945, and was the son of the late Caleb Davis Tatem and Elizabeth Wiggins Rountree Twine. Retired from the Management and Information Division at the US Coast Guard Support Center in Elizabeth City, he was a member of Warwick Baptist Church and the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of the American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

    Surviving are his sister, Lucille Elizabeth Black and husband Roy of Suffolk, VA; two brothers, Graham L. Twine and wife Gloria, and Elmer T. “Chris” Johnston, all of Hobbsville; and many extended family members and friends.

    Due to inclement weather this past Saturday, the memorial service was postponed and moved to this Saturday, January 30th at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville. Friends may join the family in the funeral home following the service.

     In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Gates County Rescue Squad, 16 Hwy 158 East, Gatesville, NC 27938.
