Elsie Bunch Gregory

   Elsie Bunch Gregory, 97, of The Albemarle Village, Hertford, NC, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mrs. Gregory was born in Chowan County on August 27, 1918 and was the daughter of the late Mark and Vera Bass Bunch. A homemaker, in years past she had worked as a clerk at White's Dress Shop, and had graded peanuts for Hertford Feed & Seed Co. A faithful member of Hertford Baptist Church and its Hannah Holmes Sunday School Class, she was a former member of The Order of The Eastern Star.

   In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Noah Paul Gregory, Sr.; sisters, Dixie Harrell, Emma White, Lessie Bunch, Grace Pettys, and Gladys Stallings, and by brothers, John, Frank, Percy, Earl, and Ervin Bunch.

   Surviving are her daughter, Rebecca G. Perry and husband Pete of Hertford; two sons, N. Paul Gregory, Jr. and wife Nellie of Hertford and Thomas Gregory and wife Marsha of Edenton; a sister, Mary Evans and husband Robert of Edenton; six grandchildren, Scott Perry and wife Alisa, Sheila Evans and husband Steve, Gwendolyn Eaton and husband J.D., Jennifer Spivey and husband Kelly, Christopher Gregory and wife Lauren, and Patrick Gregory and wife Jill; nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

   A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Hertford Baptist Church and will conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Gregory Clark, assisted by her nephew, The Rev. Dr. Dallas Stallings. A private inurnment will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service, and other times at the home of Becky and Pete Perry, 140 Russell Drive, Hertford.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hertford Baptist Church or to the Hertford Volunteer Fire Department.
