Worth Hippen-steel Hare, Jr.

   Worth Hippen-steel Hare, Jr., 54, of 141 Mexico Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Friday, February 5, 2016 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville, NC.

   Mr. Hare was born in Chowan County on July 10, 1961, and was the son of the late Worth H., Sr. and Elsie Hassell Hare. The owner of Worth H. Hare & Son House Moving, Hare Construction, and Edenton Carriage Company, he was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, the NC House Movers Association, the NC Work Horse and Mule Association, and was a founding member of The Heritage Association.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hare Vail.

   Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Dawn Dozier Hare; his daughter, Chrystal Hare Parrish and husband Jim, and their children, Jimbo and Emma, of Edenton; two sons, Calyb Dozier Hare of Edenton and Brady Corbin Hare and wife Lena of Tacoma, WA; four sisters, Gail Hare Singh and Kim Goodwin (Joseph Goodwin) of Edenton, Iris Hare Olmstead (Allen Frank Olmstead) of New Bern, and Salli Hare of Winterville; and by his step-mother, Sallie Layton Hare, her sons, R.H., Dennis, and Brent Layton, and their families.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, and will be officiated by the Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery in Hertford. Friends may join the family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
