Mary Ellen Felton Eure

   Mary Ellen Felton Eure, 88, of 287 Turner Road, Eure, NC, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mrs. Eure was born in Gates County on April 12, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Zachariah S. and Jana Greene Felton. A homemaker, later in life she had served as a caregiver to many in the community. She was a member of Eure Christian Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Greene Eure, two sisters, Elbethel Tinkham and Celia Williams, and by four brothers, Lugene, Lewis, Elmore, and J.Z. Felton.

   Surviving are her three daughters, Carolyn Powell and husband Ed of Carrsville, VA, Rita Rountree and husband J.D., and Jo Anne Powell and husband Jeff, all of Eure; a son, Robert Earl Eure, also of Eure; five grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Eure Christian Church by the Revs. Wade Bennett and Wayne Gardner. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the service, and other times at Rita and J.D.’s home, 549 Taylor Mill Road, Eure.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Eure Christian Church, 872 NC 137, Eure Volunteer Fire Dept., in care of Thomas Powell, 169 Powell Road, both in Eure, NC 27935, or to the Gates County Rescue Squad, 16 Hwy 158 E., Gatesville, NC 27938.
