David Lee Boyce, Sr.

   David Lee Boyce, Sr., 75, of 192 Mill Road, Hertford, NC, passed from this life on Thursday, February 11, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his own home.

 

   Mr. Boyce was born in Perquimans County on December 27, 1940, was the son of the late Roy Lee and Jessie S. Boyce, and spent his entire life in the Hertford area. A member of the Assembly of God faith, he had retired from the Ford Assembly Plant in Norfolk, VA.

 

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved grandson.

 

   Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Betty Lou Cartwright Boyce; his children, a son, David Lee Boyce, Jr. and wife Kimberly of Knightdale, a daughter, Betty Darlene Boyce of Elizabeth City, and son, Danny Ray Boyce of Hertford; three sisters, Katherine B. Miller and husband Ben of Chesapeake, VA, Julie B. Matthews and husband Will of Hertford, and Faye B. Briggs and husband Chuck of Elizabeth City; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

 

   A memorial service will be held Monday at 4:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel and will be officiated by Pastors Mike Warner and Eugene McLawhorn. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.
