Ralph Burfoot Meiggs

   Ralph Burfoot Meiggs, 82, of 152 Tice Road, Moyock, NC, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016 in his home.     Mr. Meiggs was born in Currituck County on August 12, 1933, and was the son of the late James Hall, Sr. and Pearl Sears Meiggs. Retired from Ford Motor Company, he was a member of the Benjamin B. French Masonic Lodge #15 in Washington D.C., and had attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Moyock. A veteran, he had served in the US Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his four sisters, Peggy McOmie, Luna Spencer, Dora Carter, and Edna Meads, and by two brothers, Jimmy and Robert Meiggs.    Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Joyce Riggs Meiggs; two sons, Thomas Ralph Meiggs and Donald Joseph Meiggs, both of Moyock; two sisters, Doris Ley of Currituck and Sandra Hooker of Minnesota; three brothers, William Meiggs of Shawboro, Clarence Meiggs of La Plata, MD, and Stanley Meiggs of Moyock; and three grandchildren, Shawn Thomas Meiggs, Matthew Allen Meiggs, and Cassidy Lynette Meiggs.     A memorial service will be held at a later date.
