Jimmie Hofler

   James Myron “Jimmie” Hofler, Sr., 79, of 530 NC Hwy 32 South, Sunbury, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Hofler was born in Gates County on June 22, 1936, and was the son of the late H. Sidney and Thelma Riddick Hofler. He, with his father and brother, the late Bernard S. Hofler, were the owners and operators of H.S. Hofler & Sons Lumber Company, where he retired as its President. He was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, for many years had served on its Building and Grounds Committee, had served in the United States Army, and had a life-long love of horses and enjoyed membership in the US Trotting Association.

   Surviving are his wife of over 52 years, Joy Hollowell Hofler; his son, James Myron Hofler, Jr. and wife Tracy; his sister, Ann Hofler Milam and husband Bruce; his sister-in-law, Marjorie S. Hofler; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Hofler Bass and husband Chris, and James Austin Hofler.

   Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Damascus Christian Church Cemetery, Sunbury, and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Terry Jones. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, or in the social hall of Sandy Cross Church, Hobbsville, immediately following the service on Saturday, and all other times at the residence.
