Chrystal Diggs Evans

   Chrystal Mae Diggs Evans, 87, of 120 Willow Street, Hertford, NC, died peacefully Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

  
   Mrs. Evans was born in Mathews, VA on March 4, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Aubrey Linwood and Thelma Mae Ward Diggs. Retired from AT&T having been employed for 32 years in the Tidewater region of Virginia, she was a member of Snug Harbor Community Church where she had served as secretary for many years, and had been active with the Perquimans County Home Extension. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Martin "Bob" Evans, and by a brother, Arthur Diggs.

  
   Surviving are her two sons, Lynwood M. Evans and Gary R. Evans, both of Hertford; a sister, Phyllis Beck of Portsmouth, VA; two granddaughters, Deanna and Jessica; and two great-granddaughters, Jaydyn and Ryleigh.

  
   A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. in Snug Harbor Community Church by the Revs. Mychael Berry and Stanley Nixon. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the service.

  
   Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
