Edward Major Gregory, Sr.

   Edward Major Gregory, Sr., 95, of Northside Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, March 12, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   A native and lifelong resident of Pasquotank County, Mr. Gregory was born March 29, 1920 to the late Eddie Williams and Mellie Overman Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his one true love, his wife of 62 years, Marjorie Jackson Gregory, and by his sister, Lucille Gregory Jennette.

   Mr. Gregory attended North Carolina State University and was a bonded livestock dealer and farmer. A lifelong member of Berea Baptist Church, he had served 20 years on the Board of Trustees for Albemarle Hospital as well as the original building committee.

   Surviving are his son, Edward Major Gregory, Jr.; and his granddaughter, Katherine Gregory Papineau and her husband David.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel of West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
