Roy Edgar Lane, Jr., 76, of 722 Center Hill Road, Tyner, NC, died Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Lane was born on November 26, 1939, and was the son of the late Roy Edgar, Sr. and Clara Mae Goodwin Lane. A retired electrician with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church and had served four years in the US Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. While serving in the Army, he played baseball in Europe, and later in life enjoyed playing golf (in which he made a hole in one), fishing, hunting, and refinishing and building furniture and other crafts.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Janet Parrish Lane; two daughters, Debra L. Bunch of Edenton and Lynn L. Wood of Spring Hope; his sister, Clara Bunch and husband Jack of Mobile, AL; two granddaughters, Wendy Cannon and Brandi Bunch; and three great-grandchildren, Karwen, Alex, and Jason Cannon.
A memorial service will be held Friday, March 25th, at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. Russell Blanchard. A private inurnment will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home following the chapel service, and all other times at the residence.
