Henry Harrison Overton

   Henry Harrison Overton, 76, of 127 Shannonhouse Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Overton was born in Hertford County on February 28, 1940 and was the son of the late George Henry and Lois Virginia Jordan Overton. Retired from helicopter maintenance with the US Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, he was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ, the Pembroke Bass Club, the Edenton Aces Booster Club, and had served in the National Guard.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie Wright Overton; his sister, Doris Ann Lowe; and by a step-son, Blaine Weyant.

   Surviving are his wife, Carol Weyant Overton; and two daughters, Lynn Dale and husband Win, and Denise Browder and husband Ricky, all of Edenton. Also surviving are Carol’s children, Brian Weyant and wife Debbie of Houston, PA and Beth W. Lane of Hertford. Together Henry and Carol shared 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

   A graveside service will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery and will be officiated by the Rev. Ashby Browder and the Rev. Steve Mizell. Friends may join the family Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at Lynn and Win Dale’s home, 102 Emperor Landing Road, Edenton.

   Memorial contributions may be made to the Edenton Aces Booster Club, John A. Holmes High School, 600 Woodard Street, Edenton, NC 27932. Checks should be made payable to John A. Holmes High School and designated for use by the Booster Club.
