Simon James Keel

   Simon James Keel, 33, of Valdosta, Georgia and formerly of Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, March 26, 2016.

   Born in Pasquotank County on April 25, 1982, he was the son of Wendy Brooks Hooker and her husband William "Billy" Hooker, II and Ronnie Louis Cauley.  A carpenter, he was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Louise Chance, maternal grandparents, James Thomas Brooks and James and Doris Story Keel, and by his paternal grandfather, Ernest Cauley.
 

   Surviving in addition to his parents are his two daughters, Katelyn and Aaliyah Keel; two sons, Simon Keel, Jr. and Malik Ahkivgak; two sisters, Rhonda Cauley Meads and Crystal Seymour; two brothers, Ron Cauley, Jr. and Bandon Seymour; his paternal grandmother, Judith Lee Cauley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

   Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bundy-Lowe Family Cemetery, located on Mt. Hermon Church Road, Elizabeth City.  Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.
