Braxton Lorenzo Jones

   Braxton Lorenzo Jones, 83, of 644 Happy Home Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016 in Waterbrook of Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Jones was born in Pasquotank County on January 4, 1933, and was the last surviving of 12 children born to the late Howard B. and Lillie J. Jones. A retired commercial truck driver, he was a faithful member of Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church where he had formerly served as Superintendent of Sunday School and been active in the Adult Choir. He was a former member of the Ryland Ruritan Club.

   In addition to his parents and siblings, he was preceded in death by his son, Barry B. Jones.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 59 years, Ramona Chappell Jones; three sons, Lonnie Jones and wife Dawn, and Howard Jones and wife Debra, all of Tyner, and Dale Jones and wife Amber of Hertford; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Derek, Seth, Kayla, William, Michael, Barrett and Chandler; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kaelan.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Happy Home Pentecostal Holiness Church and will be officiated by his son and grandson, Pastors Dale and Derek Jones.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the church immediately following the service on Thursday, and all other times at the residence.
