Jerry Mack Byrum, Sr.

   Jerry Mack Byrum, Sr., 66, of 535 Happy Home Road, Tyner, NC, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Byrum was born in Chowan County on July 10, 1949, and was the son of the late Jesse Leroy, Sr. and Nina Pauline Jordan Byrum.  A retired carpenter, for the last several years he had worked with Pine Ridge Farms.  A member and former President of the Ryland Ruritan Club, he attended Belvidere-Ryland Church of Christ.

  Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Joyce Davenport Byrum; two sons, Mack Byrum, and Preston Byrum and wife Sarah, all of Tyner; two sisters, Phyllis Moore of Suffolk, VA and Pauline Winslow of Chesapeake, VA; a brother, Jesse Byrum, Jr. of Tyner; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Stuart, and Madeline Byrum.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Minister Bobby Cohoon and Pastor Tommy Oliver.  Burial will follow in Happy Home Church Cemetery.  Friends may join the family Saturday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
