Billy Carawan

   William Earl “Billy” Carawan, 54, of 215 Oak Grove Road, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, April 10, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Carawan was born in Virginia Beach, VA on September 6, 1961, and was the son of Vicki Dale Joyner Williams of Edenton and the late George Franklin Williams. Employed as a carpenter in residential construction, he was a member of Open Door Church and was an avid racing fan. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Paytin and Jarred.

   Surviving along with his mother are his wife of nearly 15 years, Catherine Wood “Cathy” Carawan; three daughters, Ashley Carawan of Chesapeake, VA, and Kristy and Pamela Boyce, both of Edenton; five sons, Billy Carawan, Jr. and wife Heather and Justin Carawan and wife Nikki, both of Elizabeth City, Tyler Carawan of Chesapeake, Ray Boyce of Concord, and Michael Anspaugh of Chesapeake; a sister, Vicki Lynn Williams Grimstead of Virginia Beach; five brothers, Tommy Carawan and wife Michelle of Virginia Beach, George Williams, Jr. and wife Bobbi of Moyock, Ricky Williams and wife Tonya and Donnie Williams and wife Jammie, both of Gates, and Danny Williams and wife Mildred of Elizabeth City; seven grandchildren, Colin, Dimitri, Lexi, Logan, Jordan, Jay, and Michael, Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Open Door Church, 1255 Haughton Road, Edenton, by Pastors Steve Mizell and Ricky Bishop. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
