Mabel Boyce Evans Lane

   Mabel Boyce Evans Lane, 92, of 902 Johnston Street, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 in Vidant Chowan Hospital.

   Mrs. Lane was born in Chowan County on April 21, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Charlie Baker Boyce and Janie Elizabeth Byrum Boyce. A homemaker, she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, George Wayland Evans and Thomas Earl Lane; sisters, Eva Silverthorne and Hazel Hollowell; and by her brother, Joseph Boyce.

   Surviving are two daughters, Jamie Hunt and husband Jeff of Edenton and Amy Swanson and husband David of Apex; two sons, Wayne Evans and wife Donna, and Eugene Evans and wife Linda, all of Edenton; two sisters, Selma Evans of Raleigh and Vera Wallace of Edenton; seven grandchildren, Danielle and Nathan Forehand, Katherine and Emma Grace Swanson, Matthew Evans and wife Megan, Sherry Hodges and husband Gary, and Stacey Jorge and husband Jorge; and seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Seth, Abby, Logan, Casey, Madison, and Mallory.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church and will be officiated by her pastor, The Rev. Bob Young. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at Wayne and Donna’s home, 102 Tip Toe Road, Edenton.
