Kathleen M. Aylmer, 81, a former resident of Edenton, NC from 1991 to 2012, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 in Tucson, AZ.
Mrs. Aylmer was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 20, 1935 and grew up in Woodhaven, NY. She attended St. Thomas Apostle Church and School and went to Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Queens. She later worked with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, John Glenn High School, and SSI Engineering Co. on Long Island as a secretary and administrator.
Mrs. Aylmer was married to the late John T. Aylmer for 53 years, and during their time in Edenton, were both faithful members of St. Anne Catholic Church. At St. Anne, she worked in the church office for 15 years, taught Religious Education, and was a Eucharistic Minister. Other involvement in the community included her volunteer work with the Edenton-Chowan Food Pantry.
Surviving are her sister, Maureen; brother, Thomas; sons, Michael and Gregory; daughter-in-law, Laura; and her granddaughters, Olivia and Sophia.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 29th, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Anne Catholic Church and will be officiated by Father Carlos Arce, assisted by Deacon Frank Jones. Friends may join the family in the Parish Hall for the two hours prior to the service, beginning at noon. Following the service the burial will be at Beaver Hill Cemetery.
