Guy Percy Williams, Sr., 89, formerly of Poplar Neck Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016 in Pruitthealth-Neuse, New Bern, NC.
Mr. Williams was born in Chowan County on October 26, 1926, and was the son of the late Percy Lee and Zannie Lucas Williams. A retired farmer, who for many years was employed with Chowan Storage Co., he had served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, was a member of The Order of the Red Men, and was a member and deacon of Yeopim Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; and by his brothers, K.W. Williams and Lloyd “Mike” Williams.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Lee Williams; two sons, Guy P. Williams, Jr. and wife Betty of New Bern, and The Rev. Terry M. Williams and wife Jane of Wanchese; four sisters, Esther Brabble, Alice Martin, and Edna Trapp, all of Edenton, and Anna Hare of Tyner; four grandchildren, Kevin, Michael, and Chad Williams, and Jennifer Williams Fueston; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by The Rev. Gil Wise and The Rev. Joseph Buck. Military Honors will be accorded in the chapel and a private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
