Harmon Edward White

   Harmon Edward White, 77, of 342 Woodland Drive, Edenton, NC, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. White was born in Tyrrell County on October 21, 1938, and was the son of the late Leon Edward White and Gussie West Congleton. The retired owner and operator of White’s Country Store in the Cape Colony community, he and his wife worked together there for 28 years. A member of Cape Colony Church of Christ, he was an Army veteran.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lena White; by a brother, Leon A. White; and by a step-sister, Brenda Turner.

   Surviving are his wife, Fay Joyner White; two daughters, Cheryl White Hernick and husband Jim of St. Charles, MI and Sherri White Cooper and husband Aaron of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Joseph Carawan and wife Sharon of Chesapeake; a brother, Raymond White and wife Bonnie, and a sister-in-law, Beverly White, all of Edenton; step sisters, Doris Bunch, and Kay Belch and husband Lloyd, all of Edenton, and Lillian Bass of Baltimore, MD; step-brothers, Danny Bass of Nags Head, and Bobby Bass and Jesse Bass and wife Jeanette, all of Edenton; six grandchildren, Julie Bell, Brittney Carawan, Joey Carawan, Jacob Harney, Timmothy White, and Kadden Cooper; and six great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. Thomas Biggs. Burial with military honors will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
