Donald Riddick

   James Donald Riddick, 77, of 119 Beech Fork Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday morning, May 15, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Riddick was born in Gates County on April 22, 1939, and was the son of the late Johnnie Alfred “Jack” Riddick and Desma Hendrix Riddick. A farmer who enjoyed his lifelong trade, he continued working after retirement in his contract mowing operation for other area farmers. A faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, he had served for many years as the Secretary of the Carey Evans Sunday School Class.

   Surviving are his wife of over 51 years, Mary Alice Perry Riddick; his son, James Perry Riddick and wife Michelle; and his three granddaughters, Elizabeth, Molli, and Allie, all of Edenton; and two brothers, J.J. Riddick and wife Shirley of Suffolk, VA and Bobby Riddick and wife Doris Jean of Hertford.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be officiated by his pastor, Dr. James Horton. Burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and other times at the residence.
