Marie Bass Turner, 83, of 808 Badham Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016 in her home.
Mrs. Turner was born in Chowan County on December 20, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Hoskins B. Bass, Sr. and Madie Jane Russell Bass. A homemaker, in years past she had worked as an operator with Carolina Telephone, with Jimbo Jumbos, and with Lane’s Family Bar-B-Que.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marvin Turner; a sister, Dorothy Keeter; and by brothers, Hoskins and Bill Bass.
Surviving are two daughters, Emma Berry and husband Bill of Hertford, and Linda Lee Turner of Edenton; a son, Richard “Bud” Turner and wife Teresa of Edenton; two sisters, Mary Davis of Edenton and Betty Brabble of Greensboro; a brother, Robert Bass of Hobbsville; five grandchildren, Toni Corprew and husband Michael, Will Berry, and Zachary, Bryce, and Whitley Turner; and one great-granddaughter, Aubrielle Corprew.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by The Rev. Bob Young. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
