Nelda Dail Perry

   Nelda Dail Perry, 86, formerly of the Snug Harbor community of Hertford, NC, died Monday, May 30, 2016 in Brookdale Assisted Living, Monroe.

   Mrs. Perry was born in Virginia Beach, VA on September 22, 1929, and was the daughter of the late Oliver, Sr. and Nellie Dail. A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend to many, Nelda was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and had served as Director of Sunday school. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry “Bill” Perry, Jr., a sister, Mabel Mayo, and by a brother, Clayton Dail.

   Surviving are her daughter, Brenda Walker of Virginia Beach; two sons, Tim Perry and wife Lori of Denver, CO and Jeff Perry and wife Theresa of Monroe; two brothers, Robert Dail of Clermont, FL and Oliver Dail, Jr. of Virginia Beach; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Bethel Baptist Church by the Revs. Greg Owenby and Garry Mickey. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller & Van Essendeflt, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the services on Saturday.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made either to Bethel Baptist Church, 794 Burnt Mill Road, Hertford, NC 27944 or to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
