Timothy James Parker

   Timothy James “Tim” Parker, 89, of 35 Gatlington Road, Gates, NC, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

   Mr. Parker was born in Gates County on May 22, 1927, and was one of ten children born to the late Thomas B. and Emma Dudley Parker. Retired from Union Camp Corp. (now International Paper) in Franklin, VA after 33 years of employment, he also farmed, and raised poultry and cattle. He was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Earl “Jim” Parker.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 68 years, Katherine Blythe Parker; two daughters, Nancy Parker Hughes and husband Al of Chesapeake, VA and Janet Parker Roberson and husband Ricky of Chapel Hill; a brother, Earl Parker of Franklinton; and a grandson, Parker Lane Roberson.

   A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, VA, and will be officiated by family friend, The Rev. Wayne Gardner. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
