Herbert Thomas Barnes

   Herbert Thomas Barnes, 51, of 2847 Davenport Fork Road, Creswell, NC died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mr. Barnes was born in Chowan County on December 20, 1964, and was the son of Glenda Woodley Barnes of Creswell and the late John Ray Barnes.  He was a self-employed carpenter.

   Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of nearly 29 years, Shelia Calloway Barnes; a son, Joshua Barnes of Creswell; a step-son, Christopher Barnes of Sanford; a sister, Susan Sexton and husband Eugene of Creswell; and two brothers, Johnny Barnes and wife Jolie of Plymouth and Kennard Barnes and wife Renee of Havelock.

   A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. 

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
