Marvin S. Wiggins

   Marvin S. Wiggins, 91, of 308 Sandy Cross Road, Hobbsville, NC died Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Elizabeth City Health & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mr. Wiggins was born in Gates County on November 7, 1924, and was one of eleven children born to the late J.S. and Daisy Stallings Wiggins.  A farmer, he was a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church where he had served on the Board of Deacons, and was a past president of the Gates County Farm Bureau.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Smirnow and Clarine Hurdle; and by his brothers, Alvah, Herman, Forest, Lloyd, Clarence, Gelon, Winifred, and J.S. Wiggins, Jr.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 70 years, Maxine Stallings Wiggins; his daughter, Dena Wiggins and her husband, Michael Ware of Arlington, VA; and his grandsons, Brendan and Bailey Ware.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Sandy Cross Baptist Church and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. Gary Nistler.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements.  Friends may join the family at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Sandy Cross Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Frank Russell, 550 Acorn Hill Road, Sunbury, NC  27979.
