Earline Chappell White

   Earline Chappell White, 82, of 153 Skinner's Road, Hertford, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in her home.

   Mrs. White was born in Perquimans County and was the daughter of the late Charlie G. and Gladys Dale Chappell. Retired after 27 years with the Perquimans County Cooperative Extension Service, she was a Nutrition Assistant, and had worked with the 4-H Program. She was a member of Hertford Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob L. White, Jr.; a sister, Marian C. Etheridge; and by two brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Sawyer and Ronnie Etheridge.

   Surviving are two sons, Jake L. White, III, and Herbert L. White and wife Pam, all of Hertford; a sister, Ventrice C. Sawyer of Elizabeth City; two brothers, Wayne Chappell and wife Debbie of Louisburg, and Grant Chappell and wife Amy of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Ashley, Towe, Bryce, and Tyler; and nine great-grandchildren, Logan, Brandon, Ashley, Bristyl, Anaya, Brock, Caryss, Baylynne, and Aiden. Also surviving is her best friend, Dorothy Owens of Hertford.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel and will be conducted by her nephew, The Rev. Chris Chappell, and by her pastor, The Rev. Gregory Clark. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
