Joyce Brett Lee

   Joyce Adelia Brett Lee, 89, of 103 Parker’s Fishery Road, Winton, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in Down East Health & Rehabilitation Center, Gatesville.

   Mrs. Lee was born in Southampton County, VA on September 13, 1926, and was the daughter of the late James Guy and Ruth Cooke Brett. A homemaker, she had in years past worked at several restaurants in the Murfreesboro area, and was a member of Winton Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Lee, Sr.; sisters, Rae Sumner and Janie Rhodes; a brother, William Brett; and by a great-granddaughter.

   Surviving are her daughter, Carolyn Turner and husband Michael of Suffolk, VA; her son, James H. Lee, Jr. of Winton; five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Winton Baptist Church and will be officiated by her pastor, The Rev. Derik Davis. A private burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Franklin, VA. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service.
