Lloyd Wayne Evans

   Lloyd Wayne Evans, 75, of 2803 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mr. Evans was born in Chowan County on June 1, 1941, and was the son of the late Edward Z. and Lena Harrell Evans. A retired computer programmer, he had worked in that field with United Piece & Dye Works, Tarheel Bank & Trust Co., and Albemarle Mental Health. A member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, he had been a part of the Rocky Hock Quartet for over 50 years. Other involvements included the Rocky Hock Lions Club, serving as vice-president of the Chowan County Regional Fair Board, and service on the board of The Heritage Association. A member of the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of the American Legion, he had served in both the US Army and the North Carolina Army National Guard.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Bunch Evans in February of 1999.

   Surviving are his daughter, Robin Kay Glasser and husband Don of Holly Springs; his son, The Rev. Tony Wayne Evans and wife Paula of Henderson; and his brother, Merrill Evans of Kitty Hawk. Also surviving are his long-time companion, Gail Forehand, her son Lance, and his children, Camdyn and Cooper, all of Edenton.

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be officiated by Dr. James Horton and the Rev. Bob Young. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, and all other time at Gail’s home, 419 Mexico Road, Edenton.

   Because of his being a heart transplant recipient, and because of his love and care of animals, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory be made to any chapter of The American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or to AWARE, P.O. Box 203, Hertford, NC 27944.
