Jep Lewis Worrell, 67, of Meads Loop, Hertford, NC, died Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mr. Worrell was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 8, 1949, and was the son of the late Chick Everett and Myrtie Gill Worrell. He was a retired self-employed painter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Howell, and by two brothers, Frank and Wayne Worrell.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Sylvia Krouse Worrell; six children, Ann M. Worrell (Bud) and Jay L. Krouse, all of Hertford, Steven C. Krouse, Jep L. Worrell, Jr. (Angelia), and James E. Worrell, Sr., all of Virginia, and Melva A. Parker (Greg) of Ohio; two sisters, Eldrude Webb of Rockingham and Joann Williams of Holly Ridge; a brother, William Worrell of Colerain; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by The Rev. Gregory Clark. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
