Jean Carol Squires

   Jean Carol Gatton Squires, 72, of 820 North Broad Street, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in her home.

   Mrs. Squires was born in Craven County on June 30, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Johnny Clayton and Sybill Dean Gaskill Gatton.  A homemaker, she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Earl Squires; a daughter, Tammy Jo Squires; a son, Franklin Wayne Squires; and by a brother, Benjamin Gatton.

   Surviving are her two daughters, Gail Squires Bousson and Carol Squires Basnight, both of Edenton; a son, Benjamin Allen Squires of Reelsboro; two sisters, Ann Daniels of Kannapolis and Janet Greene of Concord; a brother, Phillip Gatton of Kannapolis; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Pastor Randy Browder.  Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Barnett Community Cemetery, Hobucken, NC, and will be officiated by Pastors Bill Wingard and Dwight Williams.  Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
