Thomas Allan Lemmond, Master Chief, USN Retired, 78, of 3251 Rocky Hock Road, Edenton, NC, died Friday, July 22, 2016, in his home.
Mr. Lemmond was born in Wilson, NC on June 4, 1938, and was the son of the late Earle Vance Lemmond and Florence Webb Luper Lemmond. Retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service, he was a veteran of both Korean and Vietnam Wars. Memberships enjoyed were with the Fleet Reserve, and the National Rifle Associations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Odom Lemmond.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Brunette Lemmond; three daughters, Lula Spruill and husband Mike of Elizabeth City, Brenda Verzwyvelt and husband Randy of Edenton, and Frankie Casper Bunch and husband Kevin of Clayton; two sons, Edward Lee Casper of Edenton and Brian Wayne Lemmond of Virginia Beach; a step-daughter, Jodilynn Derepkowski of Green Bay, WI; two sisters, Julia Hanna of Lake Placid, FL and Carolyn Parrish of Virginia Beach; two brothers, James M. Lemmond of Elizabeth City and Kenneth R. Lemmond of Lake Placid; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Ron Parr. Burial with military honors will follow in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
