Darleane Grubb Perkins, 71, of 251 County Line Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Mrs. Perkins was born in Minneapolis, MN on February 8, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Fred Adam and Leona Huss Grubb. Retired as an EMT with the Perquimans County EMS, and as a dispatcher with the Chowan County 911 Communications, she later worked at the Wilco-Hess Convenience Center in Edenton, and at the Butcher Block in Windsor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dianne Yates, and by her brother, Fred Grubb.
Surviving are her sons, Clifton Earl “Kip” Perkins and wife Brenda of Yukon, OK and Richard M. “Skip” Perkins and wife Tara of Tyner; and her longtime companion, Richard Hawkins, also of Tyner. She also leaves seven grandchildren, C.J., Tori, Jacob, Jenna, Scotty, Zoey, and Douglas, who lovingly referred to her as “Grannie”.
A gathering for family and friends will be held Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to either the Perquimans or Chowan County Rescue Squads.
