Sonya Ferrell Butler

   Sonya Fidonya Ferrell Butler, 81, of 318 Yeopim Trail, Edenton, NC, died Friday, July 29, 2016 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Butler was born in Smith County, MS on May 8, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Benjamin Lewis and Mildred Luton Ferrell. A retired real estate agent, she was a member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, William Richard Hodges.

   Surviving are her husband of 31 years, John Leslie Butler; a daughter, Donna Ray Hodges of Edenton; a son, Michael Ferrell Hodges of Allentown, PA; a daughter-in-law, Becky Hodges of Greer, SC; five sisters, Betty Sue Bonney and Nancy Whitfield, both of Virginia Beach, VA, Peggy Horton and Kandi Rowe, both of Suffolk, VA, and Wanda Sayce of Whales, United Kingdom; and two grandchildren, Brian and Jennie.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, and will be officiated by her pastor, The Rev. David Crumpler.

   Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
