Joseph Mendel Jolly, Jr.

   Joseph Mendel Jolly, Jr., 60, of Jenny Court, Moyock, NC, left this Earth peacefully with his daughters by his side on Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Golden Living Center, Portsmouth, VA.

   Mr. Jolly was born in Chowan County on February 13, 1956, and was the son of the late Joseph Mendel, Sr. and Annie West Jolly. A retired self-employed painting contractor, he was a Baptist by faith.

   Surviving are his two daughters, Lisa Dennis and husband Mitch of Currituck and Nancy McCurley and husband Jordan of Moyock; a dear friend whom he thought of as a son, Trent Lentz and wife Stephanie of Virginia Beach, VA; four sisters, June Ramsey of Suffolk, VA, Cindy Wentz of Ormond Beach, FL, Donna Jolly of Park Lake, FL and Wanda Fenz of Nags Head; a brother, Jack Berry of Myrtle Beach, SC; and three grandchildren, Emily and Caleb Dennis, and Caelan McCurley.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Ballance. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at Nancy and Jordan’s home, 103 Jenny Court, Moyock.
