Sidney Rupert Bell, 73, of 845 Taylor Mill Road, Eure, NC, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2016 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville. Mr. Bell was born in Northampton County on November 5, 1942, and was the son of the late Abner Rupert and Essie Byrd Bell. A retired Federal Food Inspector with the USDA, he had also owned and operated Bell Furniture Company. He was a member of Eure Baptist Church and the Crown Victoria Association Vintage Car Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Felton “Minnie” Bell; a sister, Jeanette Dunlow; and by brothers, Rudolph and David Bell. Surviving are his sister, Marie Bazemore of Charlotte; his brother, Gerald Bell of Aulander; an aunt, Frances Cousins of Chesapeake, VA; nieces, Holly Mathias, Crystal Johnston, Candice Bazemore, Julie Norman, Joelle Vaughn, Judy Collier, and Dana Lyle; nephews, Hunter Bazemore, Scott Bell, and Allen Dunlow; by special great-nieces and great-nephews, Annabell and Mason Mathias (Holly) and Karalyne and Noah Johnston (Crystal); and by a special friend, Julia Britton of Roanoke Rapids. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Baptist Church and will be officiated by his pastor, The Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the Eure Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, in the Eure Baptist social hall following the services on Tuesday, or all other times at the residence.
