Merlin Wayne Kingston

   Mr. Kingston was born in Evansville, IN on January 12, 1939, and was the son of the late Joseph I. Kingston and Marjorie Myra Liffick Kaduce. A Vietnam veteran, he retired from the United States Navy after 22 years of service, having received numerous decorations including the Purple Heart. A member of Holy Family Catholic Church, in years past he had also been active in the Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his four children, Pauline Berthe Couture Kingston, and his second wife, Rita Jane Kingston; a sister, Georgia Ann Shepherd, a brother, Edward Kaduce, and by a great-granddaughter, Layla Grace.

   Surviving are his three daughters, Cheryl White (Eric) of Colerain, Karen Harrell (David) of Tyner, and Pam Green (Kevin) of Virginia; a son, Brian Kingston (Michelle) of Sligo; four sisters, Wilma Stromley, Delores Dodge, Martha Duty, and Debra Kaduce; three brothers, William, James, and Steven Kingston; seven grandchildren, Cheyenne, Ashley (Ryan), Karie, Brandee, Jeremiah, Brian, and Jacob; three great-grandchildren, Alex, Baeden, and Kaleb, and a great-granddaughter, Rylee, due to be born in December.

   A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, and will be officiated by Pastor Danny Gurganus. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the service on Thursday, and all other times at either of the homes of his daughters, Cheryl and Karen. A private inurnment with military honors will be held in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.

   Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
