Franklin Gilbert Helton

   Franklin Gilbert Helton, 83, of 405 Bandon Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Helton was born in Washington County, VA on August 3, 1933, and was the son of the late Richard Spillard and Gracie Lee Wynegar Helton. A retired certified plumber and pipefitter, he was a member of Tidewater Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Lillie Ann Stillman Helton; a son, Franklin Helton, Jr.; a step-son, Tony Hussey; four sisters, Virginia Turner, Martha Kestner, Ramona Jean Maxwell, and Beatrice Pusatari; and by two brothers, Bobby and Jimmy Helton.

   Surviving are his two daughters, Lorraine Helton (Bear) of Hobbsville and Nancy Lee Helton of Arvonia, VA; a son, Daniel Helton (Lisa) of Galax, VA; a step-daughter, Mary Wilson (Herbert) of Edenton; a step-son, Walter Hussey (Pam), also of Edenton; the mother of his children, Nancy Green Gerber of Arvonia; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, and will be officiated by the Rev. David Crumpler. Friends may join the family at the residence.

   Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with the cremation arrangements.
