Ruby Smith Spruill Mince

   Ruby Smith Spruill Mince, 75, of 619 Center Hill Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016, in Edenton Primetime.

   Mrs. Mince was born in Bertie County on August 18, 1941, and was the daughter of the late Charlie Minton Smith and Hazel Lenora Miller Smith. Retired from the Chowan County Senior Center, she was the former owner of Colonial Florist, and had worked in the Chowan County Tax and Water Depts. She was a member of Center Hill Baptist Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Marvin Spruill and Carroll Mince; and by brothers, Edward and Charlie Smith.

   Surviving are two daughters, Brenda S. Bass and husband Richard of Tyner and Beverly S. Venters and husband Scott of Edenton; a son, Wesley Spruill and wife Glennett of Hertford; two sisters, Mary Skinner of Edenton and Rachel Smith of Tarboro; a brother, Andrew Smith of Suffolk, VA; 11 grandchildren, Kinsey Ward and husband Brian, Megan Evans and husband Matthew, Matthew Bass, Josh Copeland, Caitlyn Lewis, Daniel Venters, Ashley Venters, Corey Venters, Tyler Spruill, Anne Trueblood and husband Craig, and Glenda Word; and 8 great-grandchildren.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by Pastors Ricky Freeman and Randy Miller. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
