June Ellen Epperson

   June Ellen Epperson, 64, of 982 NC 37 North, Gates, NC, died Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Down East Health and Rehabilitation Center, Gatesville.

   Mrs. Epperson was born in Hertford County on August 18, 1952, and was the daughter of Lawrence Dale West of Chesapeake, VA and the late Viola Nellie Lilly West. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Lawrence West, II.

   Surviving along with her father are her two daughters, Cyndi Taylor and husband Danny and Nikki Epperson, all of Gates; two sons, Tony Epperson and wife Sandy of Ahoskie and Richard Epperson, Jr. of Aulander; four sisters, Elaine Ligon and Kathey Irving, both of Chesapeake, Angela David of Nebraska, and Teresa Sturgeon of Windsor, VA; a brother, Joseph West, also of Chesapeake; seven grandchildren, Turner, James, Chelsea, Chris, Michael, Kaleb, and Kendell; a great-grandson, Kolton, a great-granddaughter, Layah, due to be born in November; and many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

   A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, October 2, at 2:00 p.m. in her sister’s home, 2704 Horseshoe Drive, Chesapeake, VA 23322.

   Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.
