William Edward Lassiter

   William Edward “Bill Ed” Lassiter, 85, of 107 Hobbs Acre Drive, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Chowan River Health & Rehabilitation Center.

   Mr. Lassiter was born in Chowan County on December 17, 1930, and was the son of the late James “Jimmie” Lassiter and Ida Brabble Lassiter Baker. The retired owner and operator of Lassiter’s Gas Service, he was raised in the fellowship of Yeopim Baptist Church, and had served in the NC National Guard for 18 years.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lessie Fuller.

   Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Margie Miller Lassiter; his son, Shannon Ray Lassiter; his brother, Melvin Baker and wife Marie; and his granddaughter, Sarah McKenzie Lassiter, all of Edenton.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be officiated by the Rev. Ashby Browder. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
