Shirley Williams Swain Rentz, 86, of 2992 Hwy 64 West, Plymouth, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in The Vintage Inn, Williamston.

   Mrs. Rentz was born in Petersburg, VA on April 6, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Jack Thalton and Helen Daniels Williams.  A retired office clerk with Georgia Pacific, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Plymouth and its Mission Action Circle.  Enjoyments included shopping, fishing, playing Bridge, going to ballgames, the beach cottage, and most especially, time with her grandchildren.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Billy Swain and Estes Rentz; her sisters, Doris W. Price and Pat W. Hart; and by her brothers, Waverly and Kenneth Williams.

   Surviving are her son, William Swain and wife Robin of Plymouth; a granddaughter, Ashley Manning and husband Trey, a grandson, Daniel Swain; and two great-grandchildren, Carlos and Caroline Manning.

   A memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 309 Washington Street, Plymouth, and will be officiated by the Rev. Jimmy Hagwood.  Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church from 12:30 p.m. until time of services, and all other times at the home of her son, 123 Bennett Drive, Plymouth.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the parking lot fund of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 400, Plymouth, NC  27962.

   The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staffs of both The Vintage Inn, and Amedysis Hospice, for the care and comfort provided their loved one during her recent time of declining health.
