Ian Patrick Gralton

   Ian Patrick Gralton, 25, of 407 Cedar Street, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in his home.

   Born in Elizabeth City on October 2, 1991, he was the son of James Thomas “Jim” Gralton of Elizabeth City and Sallie Jean Lane of Hertford. Prior to his disability from a spinal cord injury, he worked in surveying with BP Corp., and later in furniture delivery with his brother.

   He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Archie T. and Mary Dale Lane of Hertford, and Joan Gralton of Albany, NY.

   In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, Justin Copeland and wife Winter, and their son Caleb of Belvidere; his paternal grandfather, Thomas Gralton of Albany; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by the Rev. James Spaugh. A private burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
