Billy Joe Kennedy

   Billy Joe Kennedy, 77, of Gates, NC, died Monday, October 17, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Mr. Kennedy was born in Mingo County, WV on April 26, 1939, and was the son of the late Jones Willie and Gladys Cook Kennedy. A wood working machinist for many years, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma L. Kennedy and Ella Y. Daniels, and by two brothers, Willie J. and Douglas Kennedy.

   Surviving are his sister, Iris Kennedy Rhodes and husband Smokey of Lyman, SC; two brothers, Danny R. Kennedy and wife Mary of Gates and Jimmy L. Kennedy of Varney, WV; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Private services will be held. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
