Malcolm Jay Marquit

   Malcolm Jay Marquit, 84, of Back Creek Drive, Hertford, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in his home.

   Mr. Marquit was born in Kings County, NY on January 6, 1932, and was the son of the late David and Surie Marquit.  Malcolm taught at the New School in NYC- Parsons School of Design and later at the Edenton campus of COA.  He was a reservist in the US Air Force.  He and his wife were Chapter Directors of the GWRRA.

   Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Harriet; a daughter, Deborah; two sons, Jeffrey and wife Tricia and Hal and wife Eileen; a brother, Larry and his longtime companion Merci; and three grandchildren, Ian, Caitlin, and Briana.

   A celebration of his life will be held Friday, November 4, from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. in the Albemarle Plantation Clubhouse.  Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, Hertford, assisted the family with the cremation arrangements.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (Ride for Kids), 302 Ridge Field Ct., Asheville, NC  28806.
