Steven Craig Halsey

   Steven Craig Halsey, 33, of 518 Soundside Road, Edenton, NC, died Saturday, November 19, 2016.

   Steven was born on April 17, 1983 in Chowan County and was the son of Craig Bailey Halsey and Melissa Cherry Halsey of Edenton. Formerly employed with Power Secure, he more recently worked with Aligned Data Centers and was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ.

   He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, John W. Cherry and Frank G. Halsey.

   In addition to his parents, he is survived by his longtime companion and wife of two years, Catherine Ray Halsey, and their daughter, Rachael Bailey Halsey. Recently he and Catherine were excited to learn they were expecting another child due to be born next year. Other survivors include a sister, Stefanie Halsey Rueffer and husband Nick of Hinesville, GA; a brother, Brad Halsey and wife Megan of Youngsville; and his grandmothers, Judith Williams Cherry and Jean Halsey, both of Edenton. Also surviving are Catherine’s family, her parents, Teresa Ray of Edenton and Mike Ray of Columbia; her sister, Anna Alfonzo and husband Phillip of Hertford; and her brothers, Michael Ray (Chelsea Perry) of Tyner and David Ray of Edenton.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Cape Colony Church of Christ and will be conducted by the Rev. Thomas Biggs and the Rev. Charles Ligon. Friends may join the family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at his parent’s home on Soundside Road.

   The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the building fund of Cape Colony Church of Christ, 831 Soundside Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
