Garnett Eure Hudgins

   Garnett Eure Hudgins, 86, of 81 Corner High Road, Eure, NC, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2016 in her home.

 

   Mrs. Hudgins was born in Gates County on April 12, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Quinton Robert Eure, Jr. and Sallie Mae Early Eure. A superb homemaker in an era when that was a high calling, she was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church and its W.M.U., The Order of The Eastern Star, and had been active in the Home Demonstration Club and the Gatesville Senior Citizens.

 

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, C. Warner Hudgins; two sisters, Maggie Tinkham and Omah Harrell; and by two brothers, Stephen and Leslie Eure.

 

   Surviving are her children, Sara G. Hudgins of Salt Lake City, UT, Julia A. Hudgins of Eure, and Bryan W. Hudgins and wife Joan, also of Eure; a sister, Bobbie Cowan and husband Ray of Suffolk, VA; a brother, Andrew Q. Eure and wife Jeannette of Williamston; three grandsons, Will Hudgins and wife Lisa, Justin Hudgins and wife Allison, and Blake Hudgins; two great-grandsons, William Carter Hudgins and Grant Warner Beamon Hudgins; and her faithful feline companion of 10 years, Buddy.

 

   Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Joe McKnight and Wayne Gardner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family at the home of her son, 149 Corner High Road, Eure.
