Betty Lane Byrum

   Betty Ruth Lane Byrum, 67, of 329 Cannons Ferry Road, Tyner, NC, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Byrum was born in Perquimans County on July 10, 1949, and was the daughter of Blanche Russell Lane Davidson of Tyner and the late Emmett Wilford Lane. A homemaker, she also had worked in the family business, Byrum Brothers Fishery, and with her sister at Northeast Dragway. She was a member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church.

   In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by step-fathers, Tommy Lane and George Davidson, Jr.

   Surviving along with her mother are her husband of 51 years, Herbert Ray Byrum; her daughter, Renee Byrum Belch and husband Chris of Tyner; two sisters, Blanche Faye Durant of Summerville, SC and Annette Lane Trueblood of Hertford; four grandchildren, Alyssa Walters and husband J.T., Christen Belch, Hunter Belch, and Brystol Belch; and a great-grandchild, Bryleigh Walters.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church and will be officiated by her pastor, The Rev. Ron Parr. A private burial will follow in the Byrum-Modlin Family Cemetery. Friends may join the family at Chris and Renee’s home, 612 Dillard’s Mill Road, Tyner.
