Reby Winslow Stallings

   Reby Winslow Stallings, 100, of Belvidere, NC, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

   Mrs. Stallings was born in Perquimans County, NC on September 15, 1916, and was the daughter of the late Lucious and Mary S. Winslow, having spent nearly her whole life in the Up River community. A loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt, she worked hard along with her husband Ellis on their farm and was a primary caregiver for her parents and grandparents in their old age. A member of Up River Friends Meeting, she cared deeply for her family and community, and especially the children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Stallings; and by a brother, Leslie Winslow.

   Surviving are her nephew, Worth Winslow and wife Nada; her niece, Mary Wilhoit and husband Bob; special caregivers, Steve Riddick and wife Joy; as well as many extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 19, at 2:00 p.m. in Up River Friends Meeting, and will be officiated by Pastor Chuck Hartman. Burial will follow in Up River Cemetery with Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, handling arrangements. Friends may join the family in the meeting's fellowship hall immediately following the graveside rites.

   The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the people in the Up River community that helped Aunt Reby during the time that she lived alone at home. Their help made it possible for her to live in the house that she loved for as long as possible.

   Aunt Reby was a truly fine person who lived well, was well loved, and will be sorely missed.
