Billie Reed Sloop

   Billie Reed Sloop, 71, formerly of Winfall, NC, and for the past 10 years a resident of Needham Adult Care Home in Shiloh, passed away, Saturday, December 17, 2016 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

   Ms. Sloop was born in Pasquotank County on January 8, 1945 (her true love, Elvis' birthday), and was the daughter of Katherine Hollowell Reed Langley and her husband Lester of Rocky Mount and the late William "Bill" Reed. She was a member of Hertford Baptist Church.

   Surviving are her brother, Robert "Bobby" Reed and wife Lynn of Rocky Mount; a sister, Mary "Kitty" Etheridge and husband Fred of Shawboro; a son, Danny Sloop and wife Irene of Bremerton, WA; four grandchildren, Vanessa Sloop, Sarah Orosco, Ruben Orosco, and Amanda Bell; special nieces and nephews, Mary Wallace and husband Kenneth, Katherine Jenkins and husband Josh, Shannon Bowen and husband Jody, Heather Haynes and husband Daniel, Nelson Reed, and Robert Reed and wife Susan; several great nieces and nephews; and her dear friends at Needham Adult Care whom she considered her "other" family.

   Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be officiated by Pastor Kenneth Wallace. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service. A private burial will be held in Cedarwood Cemetery. 

   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
